Hatfields2GO Leather Furniture Care Guide
• Leather furniture should not be placed in direct sunlight or
in very warm areas – next to radiators for example.
• Leather requires the minimum of care, although it is essential
that the surface is kept free of dirt and grit, which can have a damaging
effect.
• A regular vacuuming with the soft brush attachment will also
help with the cleaning of the furniture; great care should be taken not
to scratch the leather with the tools of the cleaner.
• On light coloured leather some denim materials can “colour
transfer” to the furniture it is advisable not to sit on light leather
sofas and chairs in dark denim materials.
• Regular dusting with a soft cloth is good practice to keep leather
looking good. If the surface is noticeably soiled the upholstery should
be wiped down with a damp cloth and soapy water taking care not to soak
the leather. Only soap should be used; never use a detergent or any spirit
based cleaning fluids. Wipe off the soapy residue with clean cold water
and wipe dry with a clean dry cloth.
• If the surface is badly soiled then we recommend you consult
specialist leather upholstery cleaner, who can carry out cleaning in the
home.
